May.16 CALEDON WALK OF FAME HONOURS TOWN’S FAMOUS RESIDENTS - THIS YEAR’S INDUCTEE: Christopher Dedrick
Presented posthumously, this year’s Walk of Fame honoree is Christopher Dedrick—a nationally and internationally acclaimed musician, arranger, composer and conductor with music credits for choral groups, recordings, film and television.
May.8 EQUESTRIAN USE OF THE CALEDON TRAILWAY
Town of Caledon Parks staff is asking for co-operation from equestrians to avoid using the Caledon Trailway in early Spring and late Fall each year. Equestrians should avoid using the trail from November 1st to April 30th as the trail surface is generally too wet and soft to support horses during this period. Horse traffic damages the surface, making it unsafe for other users of the trail.
May.2 REMINDER FOR SELLING AND DISCHARING FIREWORKS
With Victoria Day celebrations only a few weeks away, the Town of Caledon Fire & Emergency Services would like to remind retailers and homeowners about their responsibilities selling, purchasing and setting off fireworks so that the celebration can be enjoyed by everyone. Be extra cautious and courteous with your surrounding neighbour’s properties.

Don’t be alarmed if you see fire crews pull up to your house and a firefighter approaching your door! Chances are there isn’t a fire in your home, but rather, firefighters’ spreading the word on how to ensure one never develops.
Apr.17 CALEDON SURPASSES PROVINCIAL AVERAGE IN ENERGY REDUCTION DURING EARTH HOUR
The Caledon Community answered Mayor Marolyn Morrison’s challenge to improve upon the impressive energy conservation achievement set during Earth Hour 2011, by reducing electricity consumption by 10.4% during Earth Hour 2012 (up from the 8% reduction in 2011). When the lights went out in Caledon during Earth Hour last month, it was the equivalent to switching off 289,461compact florescent (CFL) light bulbs.
Apr.17 TOWN OF CALEDON RECEIVES CREDIT VALLEY CONSERVATION AWARD OF DISTINCTION
On Tuesday, April 17, 2012, the Town of Caledon was presented with the Award of Distinction from the Credit Valley Conservation Authority in recognition of outstanding contributions to the Credit River Watershed’s health, addressing climate change concerns by implementing the Caledon Community Climate Change Action Plan.
Apr.16 TOWN OF CALEDON ENCOURAGES SUPPORT OF “NATIONAL DAY OF MOURNING”
Community members are invited to join Town staff and Council for this year’s Day of Mourning ceremony at Town Hall on Friday, April 27, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. The Day of Mourning ceremony is held in April each year to coincide with national events that honour the millions of people whose lives have been forever changed by a workplace incident.
Apr.9 Industrial and Commercial Business and Property Owners Continue to Take Advantage of the Bolton Community Improvement Plan Financial Incentive Grants
Three more industrial/commercial property owners in the Community Improvement Plan (CIP) area have taken advantage of the funding opportunities available through the Town of Caledon financial incentive grant programs. In addition, another two have been approved and are working towards completion of their property improvement projects.
Apr.9 Town of Caledon Photo Contest Winners Announced
Congratulations to Elaine, Nathan, and Hendrina who are the first, second and third prize winners respectively of the Town of Caledon Photo Contest. Their photographs, shown above, will be used in the development of the new Town of Caledon website, which is scheduled to be launched soon.

Mar.27 TOWN OF CALEDON IS AN ACTIVE PARTICIPANT OF 2012 EARTH HOUR
The Town of Caledon has been an active participant in Earth Hour since 2008. On Saturday, March 31st from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm, the Town invites Caledon businesses and residents to take a stand against climate change by turning off their lights and participating in Earth Hour 2012.
Mar.27 “OPEN-AIR BURN PERMITS” for Outdoor Fireplaces, Chimineas & Similar Products
Town of Caledon Fire & Emergency Services has received numerous telephone calls and inquiries from residents and homeowners regarding the use of various types of outdoor fireplaces including chimineas. The use of chimineas and other similar solid fuel flame producing products is prohibited in settlement areas.
Mar.5 Do you have the Power to Save your Life? Time to Change your Clocks and Test for Working Smoke Alarms
Daylight saving begins on March 11th 2012, and Caledon Fire & Emergency Services is strongly urging residents to replace the old batteries in their smoke alarms when they change their clocks this weekend and check that all electrically powered units are working.
